SimCity 4
Welcome to SimCityscape™!

SimCityscape™ offers SimCity™ 4 players the chance to grab cities from a region game board, play them, and then upload them to the board for the next Mayor to develop or evolve. Players work independently from each other on their cities in Mayor Mode, and by participating you will contribute to the collective picture of the region game board. Update your Mayor's Log to track the progress of your city, and view other Mayors' Logs to learn the tricks of the trade.

SimCityscape™ can also be your source for small, medium and large city files to use in your own regions. Grab any city at any point in its evolution and load it into your own SimCity™ 4 game.

Whether you want to grab cities in Download Mode or stake your claim in Mayor Mode, SimCityscape™ will become your one-stop shop to populate your region with cities from other players from around the world.

Glossary

City: A unique .sc4 file that a user can download, play within their SimCity™ 4 game and upload back to SimCityscape™ during the course of their turn.

Join: To claim a city within a region for a turn during SimCityscape™. By joining a city you become Mayor of that city for the duration of the turn, or until you manually end the turn.

Mayor: A SimCity™ 4 product-registered user/avatar who joins a city within SimCityscape™ for a turn. An avatar can only join one city within SimCityscape™ at a time. A single user who uses multiple avatars (the web site allows 5 avatars per user) can join multiple cities by using multiple avatars

Region: A map view containing 48 joinable cities. Unlike SimCity™ 4, there isn't regional terrain reconciliation or coordination of neighbor deals between cities within a region, unless users download neighboring cities and reconcile them within their own SimCity™ 4 game. Users contribute to the region by uploading their work to the region game board to alter the view of the region over time.

Round: The period in which a regional map is active within SimCityscape™, in essence the round is the "life cycle" of a region. A round is equal to a city being played for 10 turns. Alternately a round can time-out if 30 days pass since the regional map was added to SimCityscape™.

Turn: A two-day period in which someone who is a Mayor of a city has rights to upload new versions of the .sc4 file to SimCityscape™. A turn can also be ended manually at any time. A Mayor can upload as many iterative versions of the city to SimCityscape™ as they want during their turn.

BBS

We've set up a separate bulletin board for SimCityscape™ fans to post about their SimCityscape™ experiences.

Use the BBS to learn about what other players are doing with the game, brag about your city, or just lurk and pick up helpful hints.

Just like the SimCity.com BBS, there will be Mayors to moderate and occasionally a Maxis staff member may pop in to get your feedback about the game.

Mayor's Log

Here's the place where you can read the story about a city and download the city file from any Mayor's turn for that city. Did one Mayor build up a stumbling farm community into a burgeoning metropolis? Did another take a bedroom community and unleash an unimaginable disaster on it?

The Mayor's Log contains the history of the city for the life span of the region and contains past and current Mayor's screenshots and final or most recent comments as Mayor.

And from the Mayor's Log, you can also download city files from any turn for a city to import into your SimCityTM 4 game from the Mayor's Log.

Mayor's Log Updater

Every Mayor has a story to tell and the Mayor's Log Updater is the tool you'll use to tell yours.

During your turn as Mayor you can modify your Mayor's Log page as often as you want by using the Updater. You can upload and manage up to nine snapshots and add or modify the text of your Mayor's Log.

SimCityscape™ Game Board

By clicking on the View Region button on the front door of SimCityscape™ you'll pull up the region game board.

The game board has two modes: Download Mode and Mayor Mode. Both modes allow you to see the region board and depending on which mode you are in, you'll have different sets of buttons offering you different options.
